The 1858 Silver Three-Cent Piece (often called a “trime”) was struck at the Philadelphia Mint as part of the small silver denomination introduced in 1851. These coins were intended to facilitate postage purchases and small transactions during a period of silver shortages.
MS-65 indicates a gem Mint State coin with strong luster and only minor contact marks visible under magnification.
